Custom travel to Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is one of Central Asia's most authentic destinations — mountain country (94% of territory above 1,000 m, nicknamed 'Central Asia's Switzerland'), 200,000 km² (a third of France) for 7 million inhabitants. Independent since 1991 (former Soviet Union), Central Asia's most advanced democracy (Tulip Revolution 2005, Apricot Revolution 2010), still very living Turkish nomadic heritage — 30% of population lives in yurt ('boz üy') during summer months (transhumance in jailoos, high-altitude pastures). Landscapes: Tian Shan mountains ('Celestial Mountains') peaking at Peak Pobedy 7,439 m, Pamir-Alay mountains in the south, glaciers, green valleys, more than 2,000 glacial lakes. Issyk Kul Lake ('Hot Lake', world's 2nd largest mountain lake after Titicaca, 6,200 km², 1,600-m altitude, the only one in Central Asia that never freezes thanks to its light salinity and 700-m depth). Song Kul Lake (3,016-m altitude, alpine plateau, one of the world's most beautiful nomadic landscapes — yurts, herds, starry skies). Bishkek (capital, 1 million inhabitants, Soviet heritage). Karakol (Tian Shan gateway, ski resort). Nomadic cuisine (beshbarmak, kymyz, manty). 10-12 summer days for nature and nomadism immersion.
