When to go
The Dominican Republic can be visited almost year-round, but with a clearly superior season: November to April (dry season, 24-30 °C temperatures, low humidity, little rain). For Samaná humpback whales, strictly January-March (peak February 15-March 15). For Duarte Peak, December-March (passable trail). The La Vega Carnival, one of the Caribbean's most colorful, takes place every Sunday in February. To avoid: June to October (Atlantic hurricane season, peak September, some resorts close August-September, cheaper flights but cyclone risk). Stable water temperature around 26-28 °C year-round. Tourist high season corresponds to end-of-year holidays and February-March.

- Spring (May), Punta Cana, Casa de Campo, golf
