Seychelles honeymoon: creating your tailor-made trip for two
Pink granite boulders tumbling into turquoise water, beaches where you meet more tortoises than travellers, sunsets that set the Indian Ocean ablaze: the Seychelles have everything you could dream of for a honeymoon. You still need to pick the right islands, the right season and the right places to stay, so that your first big trip as a married couple truly lives up to what you imagine.
In this guide, I share what makes the difference for a successful Seychelles honeymoon: the best time to go, which islands to combine, the romantic moments not to miss and my practical tips. And if you would rather just enjoy the anticipation, I design your tailor-made Seychelles honeymoon, from the very first idea until you are back home.
Why choose the Seychelles for your tailor-made honeymoon
An archipelago of 115 islands in the middle of the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles offer what many beach destinations have lost: space, unspoilt nature and genuine privacy. Around half of the country is protected land or sea, hotels are often on a human scale and some beaches can only be reached on foot or by boat.
It is also a surprisingly varied destination. In ten days you can hike through Mahé's rainforest, walk among the coco de mer palms of the Vallée de Mai, cycle La Digue's sandy lanes and finish with a few nights on a private island. Each island has its own mood, which is exactly why a tailor-made trip matters so much: the order of the stops, the choice of hotels and the pace of the stay make all the difference between a lovely trip and an unforgettable memory.
On the practical side, the Seychelles tick a lot of boxes too: around ten hours' flight from Paris, a time difference of just two to three hours with Western Europe, no visa for European travellers (just an online travel authorisation), and French among the official languages. You land without jet lag and can make the most of it from day one. If you are still weighing up several countries, my ranking of the best honeymoon destinations will help you compare.
When to go to the Seychelles for your honeymoon
Good news: there is no truly bad season in the Seychelles. Temperatures sit between 26 and 31 °C all year round and the sea stays warm. What changes from month to month is the wind, the rain and therefore which beaches are the most pleasant.
| Period | Weather | For your honeymoon |
|---|---|---|
| April – May | Inter-season, hot, light winds, calm sea | The ideal window: glassy sea and crystal-clear water for snorkelling |
| June – September | South-east trade winds, cooler and drier | Very pleasant, as long as you pick sheltered beaches |
| October – November | Inter-season, hot, light winds | An excellent window, often slightly quieter |
| December – March | North-west monsoon, hot and humid, showers | More frequent rain, peak season and high prices over the holidays |
Tip: depending on the season, not all beaches are equal. During the south-east trade winds, from May to October, the sea can be choppy and seaweed can pile up on south- and east-facing shores, while north-west beaches stay more sheltered. From December to March it is roughly the other way round. So I choose your hotels based on your dates, not just on their photos.
If your wedding falls in midsummer, travelling in July or August is perfectly doable: it is all about choosing the right coast. And nothing says you have to fly out the day after the wedding: pushing the honeymoon back a few months often lets you aim for April, May, October or November.
Mahé, Praslin, La Digue: the must-see islands for a honeymoon
The three main islands are linked by ferry: about an hour between Mahé and Praslin, a quarter of an hour between Praslin and La Digue. A small plane also connects Mahé and Praslin in around fifteen minutes. Here is how I approach each of them for a honeymoon. For a full overview of the archipelago, you can also read my tailor-made Seychelles travel guide.
Mahé, the gateway between mountains and wild beaches
Mahé, the largest island, is where you land. Many travellers pass straight through, which is a shame: its mountainous, rainforest-covered heart is home to Morne Seychellois National Park and trails with views over the lagoon. In the south, Anse Intendance and Anse Takamaka are long, wild beaches, and Victoria, one of the smallest capitals in the world, can be explored in a morning around its colourful market.
For a honeymoon, I recommend two to three nights on Mahé, ideally at the end of the trip so you can get to the airport stress-free on departure day, in a hotel perched above the ocean or facing a quiet beach in the south of the island.
Praslin, the Vallée de Mai and Anse Lazio
Praslin, the second island of the archipelago, moves at a gentle pace that is perfect for a honeymoon. People come first for the Vallée de Mai, a UNESCO World Heritage forest where the coco de mer grows, an endemic palm whose seed, the heaviest in the plant kingdom, has a rather suggestive shape. An early-morning walk in the green half-light of this primeval forest is one of the most surprising moments of the trip.
Then there is Anse Lazio, often listed among the most beautiful beaches in the world, with its white sand, granite boulders and clear water that is ideal for swimming. From Praslin, a trip to Curieuse Island also lets you get close to giant tortoises roaming free. Three nights is enough to see it all without rushing.
La Digue, the timeless island by bike
On La Digue there are hardly any cars: you get around by bike, at the pace of sandy lanes and Creole houses. It is the most romantic island in the archipelago, and the one couples leave with the most regret. It is home to Anse Source d'Argent, the beach of pink granite boulders you have almost certainly seen in photos, reached through the L'Union Estate grounds (entry fee).
Tip: go in the late afternoon, before the estate closes, once the day-trippers have left: the light is softer and the beach almost yours. Plan at least two nights on the island: La Digue's magic happens in the evening and early morning, when it belongs to those who stay overnight.
A night on a private island, the ultimate experience
To crown a honeymoon, nothing beats a stay on a private island. North Island, Frégate, Denis or Félicité have a few dozen villas at most: beaches almost to yourselves, dinners wherever you like and, depending on the season, turtles coming ashore to nest. They are reached by small plane, helicopter or boat, depending on the island.
A single night is already a memory of its own, but the experience really comes into its own over two or three nights, especially as some islands require a minimum stay. It is a significant budget in itself, which can be balanced with simpler places to stay on Praslin or La Digue. I suggest placing it just before your final stop on Mahé, as a grand finale before the flight home.

Romantic experiences to share in the Seychelles
Beyond the beaches, it is often a handful of special moments that stay with you. Here are the ones I love to weave into a Seychelles honeymoon.
A romantic candlelit dinner with your feet in the sand
A table set just for the two of you on the beach, lanterns, the sound of the waves and a Creole menu of grilled fish and coconut curry: many hotels offer this private dinner, but slots are limited and the best evenings go quickly. I book it ahead, taking the sunset time into account, so it lands at the right moment of your stay.
A sunset catamaran cruise
Sailing between Praslin, La Digue and the small neighbouring islands, stopping to snorkel around St Pierre islet or Coco Island, then heading back as the sky turns orange: a catamaran cruise is one of the most beautiful ways to discover the archipelago. Shared or private for just the two of you, for half a day, a full day or several days sleeping on board, it adapts to how much privacy you want.
Couples' spa treatments facing the ocean
Seychelles spas are among the most beautiful in the Indian Ocean: pavilions tucked into the greenery, treatment rooms open to the sea, coconut oil and local botanicals. A couples' massage, the day after the flight or at the end of the trip, is a real pause for the two of you. Some hotels even include it in their honeymoon packages.
Private dinner, boat trip, couples' treatment, a little surprise on arrival: tell me what you dream of and I can build these moments into your stay, in the right place and at the right time.
Your tailor-made Seychelles honeymoon by Lisa
Planning a honeymoon usually means doing it while also planning a wedding. My role is to take that load off your shoulders, so all that is left for you is to choose and to dream.
My tips for a successful Seychelles honeymoon
- Don't try to see everything: two or three islands are plenty, with at least two to three nights on each.
- End on Mahé: the international airport is on the island, so you avoid a ferry or domestic flight on the day you fly home.
- Choose your hotels according to the season and the coast, to avoid rough seas or seaweed.
- Mention your honeymoon with every booking: many hotels offer special touches or dedicated deals, usually on presentation of a recent marriage certificate.
- Leave a buffer between ferries and flights, especially on the day you fly home.
- Pack a UK-style plug adapter, reef-safe sunscreen and mosquito repellent.
- To stay connected from the moment you land without roaming charges, get an eSIM before you leave: my code NEWHORIZONS gives you 15% off Saily (partner link).
- As a rough budget guide, allow from €4,000 per person for 10 days in 4★ hotels, international flights included.
To go further, I have also gathered the honeymoon mistakes to avoid.
What I bring to your honeymoon
I design every honeymoon from A to Z, based on your wishes, your budget and the way you like to travel. In practice:
- an island-hopping itinerary built around your dates, with ferries, domestic flights and transfers in the right order
- hotels chosen for their atmosphere, their beach and how sheltered they are in your season, from Creole guesthouses to private islands
- romantic moments booked ahead: beach dinner, catamaran, couples' spa
- a line-by-line quote, with no hidden fees
- a clear travel booklet with all your bookings and my recommendations
- a single point of contact, reachable 7 days a week during your trip
They trusted me with their honeymoon
These two couples trusted me with planning their Seychelles honeymoon. Here is what they say.
Very good experience with Lisa organizing our honeymoon trip. She listened to our needs and was able to suggest a trip that matches our expectations. The exchanges are simple, efficient, and pleasant. The trip hasn't taken place yet, but we're already very satisfied with the support we've received so far.
We asked Lisa to organize our honeymoon. She advised us on the destination and understood exactly what we wanted to do once there. The trip hasn't taken place yet, but so far everything is perfect. Lisa is available, very responsive, a great listener and above all very, very patient. A big plus for her document presentations, which are really beautiful and very clear. Thank you so much

FAQ: your Seychelles honeymoon questions
How many days should you plan for a Seychelles honeymoon?
Allow at least 10 days on the ground to combine Mahé, Praslin and La Digue without rushing. With 12 to 14 days, you can add a private island or slow the pace even further. With less than a week, it is better to focus on two islands.
Which islands should you combine for a Seychelles honeymoon?
The Mahé, Praslin and La Digue trio is the most balanced choice for a first visit: nature and mountains on Mahé, the Vallée de Mai and Anse Lazio on Praslin, and La Digue's timeless charm. For a more exclusive honeymoon, you can add a few nights on a private island just before heading back to Mahé for your flight home.
What are the entry requirements for the Seychelles?
French, Belgian and Swiss travellers do not need a visa, but an electronic Travel Authorisation is mandatory: it costs about €10 per person and is applied for online within the 30 days before departure, on the Seychelles government's official portal. You also need a passport valid for the whole stay, a return ticket and an accommodation booking. No vaccinations are required when arriving from Europe. These rules can change, so check them a few weeks before you travel with your government's official travel advice, such as GOV.UK for British travellers or France Diplomatie.
